The Premier League is the top division of English football and has been the most popular league in the world for several years. Since it was founded in 1992, a total of 49 clubs have participated in the league, with only six different clubs winning a title. Each season, 20 teams are participating in the Premier League, which is finished in 38 match days. English league games can be watched on TV screens in more than 200 countries and attract hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide. It is therefore hardly surprising that the Premier League has the most lucrative TV and sponsorship contracts of all leagues. No other national championship involves as much money as in the top division of England, which always occupies one of the top 3 places in the UEFA coefficient ranking.
Manchester United – Betting on the Red Devils
Betting Tipps Manchester United
No other English club has won as many championships as Manchester United. In total, the Red Devils could raise the trophy 20 times, with 13 of the 20 titles won in the Premier League era. The club also has an extremely successful past internationally and won both the Champions League and the Europa League. The club experienced its darkest hour on February 6, 1958, when British European Airways flight 609 from Belgrade via Munich to Manchester crashed and eight United players and three coaches lost their lives.
No matter what era – the Red Devils always had exceptional players in their squads. Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Peter Schmeichel are just a few of the well-known names that are associated with the club forever. As a coach, Sir Alex Ferguson will be remembered forever by Manchester United fans as the Scotsman won an incredible 38 titles with the Red Devils, including all 13 Premier League championships.
Manchester United supporters know exactly what to expect from their team: Primarily they don’t want to see long phases of possession and no lengthy Tiki-Taka like at FC Barcelona. The fans expect dynamic, vertical play with quick combinations and the creation of as many opportunities as possible. The period between 2006 and 2009 can be described as a model for United’s ideal playing style. The defense of that era, Vidic and Ferdinand, ensured a lot of stability and, after winning the ball, they started quick counterattacks, which were completed by fast attacking players like Nani, Tevez or Cristiano Ronaldo.
When Manchester United puts all PS on the road, the Red Devils are particularly powerful in front of a home crowd at Old Trafford. If the shape curve fits, which can be seen from the last results in our graphic above, then betting tips on home victories of the Red Devils are particularly useful, since at Old Trafford a thrilling atmosphere is always guaranteed. Since United has been a bit moody over the past few years, we recommend first and foremost live betting, as this allows you to observe the early stages of the games in detail and get a better estimate of the current mood of the Reds from Manchester.
Manchester City – Betting in the Citizens
Betting Tipps Manchester City
Manchester City was formerly known as a so-called elevator team in England, because the club could not stay in the top division for longer times, but got relegated and promoted every few years. Since 2002, however, the Citizens have played consistently in the Premier League and have won numerous titles in the recent past. This is primarily due to the entry of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who spared no expense in the transfer market to make Manchester City a top team.
The club won the championship title in 1937 and 1968 and then had to wait until 2012 before the club was again at the top of the table after the last game day. More successful times followed, as Manchester City won the Premier League four times between 2012 and 2019. The Manchester City fans are considered to be particularly loyal because they always backed up their team in bad times in lower leagues. The German keeper Bert Trautmann achieved cult status at the club after he finished a game despite a broken neck. In recent years there have been numerous city players in the squad who are among the world’s best. Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré and many other soccer players repeatedly lightened up Premier League match days with their appearances.
Under coach Pep Guardiola, who took over the scepter at City in 2016, the playing style of the Premier League club changed fundamentally. Manchester City want to control every game and have more possession than the opponent in almost every game. The team builds up good pressing, but unlike the rivals from Liverpool, it is not primarily there to win the ball in high areas and immediately initiate an attack. City wants to force the opponent to hit the ball far forward, so that the game can subsequently be built up carefully from behind. If Manchester City’s mechanisms work well, it’s always difficult for any team to score, because the opponent’s possession time is normally extremely short. So one of our pick recommendations is that Manchester City wins the game without conceding a goal.
Arsenal – Betting on the Gunners
Betting Tipps Arsenal
With 13 league titles and just as many FA Cup triumphs, Arsenal FC is one of the most successful clubs in England, although fans have had to wait for a league title since the 2003-04 season. However, this season has not been forgotten since the team of coach Arséne Wenger, who was in charge of the Gunners from 1996 to 2018, managed to play 49 competitive games undefeated. Even in the 38 league games, the Londoners never had to leave the pitch as losers. Some of the key players in this team will stay forever in the hearts of Arsenal’s fans, who will never forget the performances of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Freddie Ljungberg. But there are also great players from other eras, such as Tony Adams, Ian Wright and David Seaman.
The Gunners got their nickname for a good reason, because traditionally the offense of England’s 13-times champions was outstanding. For many years, Arsenal was considered the best attacking and overall strongest team in the Premier League, although this style of play often had a bad influence on the performance of their defense. The best conditions are in place to target an “over-bet” for games involving Arsenal.
Liverpool – Betting on the Reds
Betting Tipps Liverpool
Liverpool FC is one of the most successful clubs in English football and has won numerous titles both nationally and internationally. The Reds had the best phase between 1973 and 1990, as eleven championships were won in these 17 years. After that, Liverpool fans, who have been so spoiled for a long time, had to go through hard times. Things have been going much better for the English Premier League club since German Jürgen Klopp took over as coach on October 8, 2015. Klopp not only brought an extremely attractive style of play but also great success back to Anfield.
Speaking of Anfield Road – the stadium and Liverpool’s fans are famous all over the world, because when the hymn “You’ll Never Walk Alone” is played, goosebumps are guaranteed. The club produced numerous club legends. More recently, Captain Steven Gerrard has secured a place in the hearts of the Reds’ fans forever, with “King” Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Kevin Keegan and Graeme Souness there were many older legends in past eras that gave the club numerous trophies for the club museum.
Liverpool FC has played breathtaking football in recent years, which is extremely entertaining for spectators in the stadiums. The players go at an extremely high pace and press the opponent, even in very high areas of the pitch. The goal is to win the ball in dangerous positions and immediately switch from defense to offensive and create opportunities. This style of play requires a high level of willingness to run and a lot of intensity – the team rarely shifts down a gear, which is why Liverpool’s style of play under coach Jürgen Klopp is also known as “heavy metal football”. Liverpool FC games are often “high scoring games”, which is why over-betting often leads to success. Especially in front of their own fans, the Reds are a real force and handicap victories are common.
Chelsea – Betting on the Blues
Betting Tipps Chelsea
With six league titles and eight FA Cup victories, Chelsea FC is a successful Premier League team, but has recently made itself a name primarily with strong international appearances. The Londoners are the first English club to win the so-called “European Treble”, which consists of the European Cup of national champions or Champions League, the Europa League or the UEFA Cup and the European Cup winners’ cup. Apart from Chelsea, only Juventus, Ajax and FC Bayern Munich could manage to do so. The fact that Chelsea has played on European top level in recent years is primarily thanks to the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, who has invested hundreds of millions of euros in the club since 2003. José Mourinho won three Premier League titles with the club, Roberto di Matteo won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012 and Rafael Benitez the Europa League only one year later. The last league title was won by manager Antonio Conte in the 2016-17 season. The biggest club legends are John Terry, Frank Lampard, Gianfranco Zola, Didier Drogba, top scorer Bobby Tambling (202 goals in 370 games) and Ron Harris, who played the most games for the Blues with 795 appearances.
Leicester City – Betting on the Foxes
Betting Tipps Leicester City
No football fan will ever forget the 2015-16 season. The Leicester City Premier League title shook the football world. To this day, the title win is considered the biggest surprise in sports history and also some bookies had a bad awakening, because some optimistic Leicester fans put their money for fun on a Leicester title win at betting odds of 5000 : 1. So if they bet 10 euros on a Leicester victory, the bookmaker paid out 50,000 euros at the end of the season. According to estimates, around £ 7.7 million were paid out to Leicester fans, who could celebrate the best year of their lives not only in terms of sport. In defensive midfield, Frenchman N`Golo Kante cleared everything, Riyad Mahrez provided the creative moments and late-appointed Jamie Vardy became one of the best attackers specialized in counterattacks worldwide.
In their title winning season, Leicester was often deep in a 4-4-2 formation in its own half and went for a quick, vertical attacks after winning the ball, with Jamie Vardy mostly being sought and found in the counterattacks. As some key players such as N`Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez gradually left the club, the team’s tactics also changed. The club knows that they cannot get the very best players on the market, but they still complete excellent transfers and develop mostly unproven, talented players themselves. The players are used pragmatically depending on their abilities, with the strong counter-focus moving more into the background in the years after the title was won – Leicester City’s possession time is now longer. The club is still good for crazy stories, such as Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Southampton was defeated 9-0 on October 25, 2019. It always pays to follow the Leicester games and respond to the current trend with live betting.
The most fiery duels in the Premier League

Football in England is traditionally characterized by an offensive spirit and the teams usually go at a high pace, so that numerous goals and thus numerous interesting bets are guaranteed.

Although Manchester City has become a more than serious contender for Manchester United in recent years thanks to its high sponsorship money, most United supporters still consider Liverpool FC to be their biggest rival. The relationship between the city rivals Liverpool and Everton can be described as relatively friendly. But when the Red Devils meet the Reds, one of the most polarizing duels worldwide takes place – similar to the Old Firm in Scotland and the El Clásico in Spain.
Not only the two clubs, but also the two cities have been in constant competition due to their geographical proximity throughout history and both cities have always claimed industrial supremacy in the region. This also gradually applied to football, because Man. United and Liverpool had no gifts for each other over the years and decades and were always two of the most successful clubs in England. Manchester United achieved more national titles, Liverpool FC was the more successful team on the international stage. Historically, Manchester United have had a better record in direct duels. Traditionally, both teams rely on attacking football, so that many encounters between the two teams end with an “over” result. In sports betting in this duel, however, the home advantage should be considered in particular, since both Anfield and Old Trafford can be real fortresses.

As mentioned earlier, Liverpool FC is still Manchester United’s biggest rival today. Before the Second World War, many football fans attended the home games of both teams in Manchester, whereby the Citizens liked to see themselves as the “true Manchester club”, also because the Old Trafford is outside the city limits. Rivalry in the Manchester derby has recently increased rapidly, especially since City has always been at the top of the table due to its financial situation in recent years.
When betting on the Manchester derby, the form curve of the two teams should primarily be compared, as there have always been phases in the past in which there was a clear outsider before the game started. It is statistically interesting that one of the two teams often wins without conceding a goal. However, it is also advisable to follow the initial phase of the Manchester derby and to play a live bet.

The derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur FC is not only one of the largest derbies in London, but has made a name for itself worldwide due to the great rivalry between the two club’s fans. The rivalry began when Arsenal moved from south-east London to the north and found a new home in the immediate vicinity of the Spurs venue. For many years, the Gunners were clearly superior to their neighbors, but lately the balance of power has evened out. When the two teams meet, it is now often about the Champions League spots in the table, which increases the intensity of this duel even further.
While the Gunners traditionally maintain an offensive style of play, Spurs depend tactically on the current coach and form a lot. If both teams have a good run of results, in the past a “both teams to score” (BTTS) could be recommended, as the offensive lines in particular were traditionally very strong.

The London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea did not always have the high status that it occupies today. Chelsea could not keep up with Arsenal, and it was only with Roman Abramovich’s entry that the clubs met at the same level. Arsenal fans usually only see Chelsea as the third largest rival and rank Tottenham Hotspur and even Manchester United ahead of the Blues. Nevertheless, the fans of both clubs do not like each other, so the mood on match days can be quite tense. In direct comparison, the Gunners have a better record because Arsenal used to be above the city rivals in terms of quality for a long time. The duels between the two teams have mostly been a tight affair lately – the exception was the Europa League final in the 2018-19 season, which Chelsea won 4-1.

The great rivalry between the two clubs only emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when the two teams were regularly the biggest rivals for the title in England. The duel between Arsenal and Manchester United was primarily shaped by two coaching legends. Arsenal coach Arséne Wenger on one side and Sir Alex Ferguson on the other. These two coaches had numerous differences between themselves, which were also transferred to the players on the pitch – just think of the heated duels between captains Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane. The mood among the fans heated up so much that until today the supporters of both teams often describe the other team as the greatest arch-rival.
This duel is not only worth seeing for the reasons mentioned above, but the fact that both teams traditionally stand for offensive football ensures exciting games. The 8-2 victory of the Red Devils from the 2011-12 season is well remembered, for example. Goalless draws are very rare between these two teams, so over-betting is a good choice in many cases.

Current balance of power
It was very rare for a team outside of London or Manchester to win the Premier League. Since 1992, this has only been accomplished by the Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City, with Liverpool also being another team on this list. Under normal circumstances, the big clubs from London and Manchester usually dominate the action. Since Jürgen Klopp took over Liverpool, the Reds have always been a serious competitor for the title. Since all Premier League clubs receive enormous sums of money due to sponsorships and TV money, the Premier League is considered a league in which “everyone can beat everyone”. In the past there were always teams with extremely long series without defeat, but especially in England betting tips on form-fitting outsiders can often be promising.
The Premier League record players
Since the Premier League was established, there have been 13 footballers who have played more than 500 games in England’s top division. Gareth Barry tops the list of 653 appearances he did for four different clubs over a 20-year period (1998-2018). In second place is Welshman Ryan Giggs, who played his 632 Premier League games for only one club. Between 1992 and 2014, the midfielder was a reliable and loyal top performer for Manchester United. Frank Lampard is in third place with 609 games, making most of his appearances for Chelsea FC. Between 2001 and 2004 he played 429 championship games for the Blues. His other games are divided between West Ham United (148) and Manchester City (32).
When talking about record players, one must also point out former goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who played an incredible 1,005 championship games between seasons 1965-66 and 1996-97, although not all of the games were in England’s top division.
The Premier League’s top scorers
Former striker Alan Shearer has scored the most top-flight goals in England since the Premier League was founded. The attacker scored 260 goals in 440 games, scoring 112 for the Blackburn Rovers and 148 for Newcastle United. Wayne Rooney followed in second place, contributing 208 goals in 494 Premier League games. Sergio Agüero is the most successful striker who is still active and could soon overtake Andy Cole, who is third with 187 goals. Further legendary goal scorers of English Premier League include Frank Lampard (177), Thierry Henry (175), Robbie Fowler (163), Jermaine Defoe (162) and Michael Owen (150).
