Brazil odds World Cup 2022

Brazil are the odds-on favorites to win the World Cup and have the lowest odds of winning the title at all betting sites.

This does not come as a surprise, because the five-time world champion is one of the strongest teams at every tournament, and the Seleção have recovered since the embarrassing elimination at the home World Cup 2014, when they went down 7-1 against Germany in the semifinals.

No other country has won the World Cup so many times, and according to the bookmakers, there is a good chance that Neymar and Co. will win their sixth World Cup title this year.

Brazil to win the World Cup @ 5.00 / Bet365

Brazil have reached seven World Cup finals and won five of them. In 1950, they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Uruguay in front of 200,000 spectators at the legendary Maracanã Stadium, while in 1998 they lost the final 3-0 to France. The Brazilians were successful in all of the other five endgames.

Brazil to reach the World Cup final @ 3.25 / Bet365

Since Brazil is favored to win the title, it comes as little surprise that coach Tite’s team is also the firm favorite to win Group H. The Seleção also got into a fairly easy group, with Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon all performing at roughly the same level. Brazil should not have too many troubles against their group opponents. Accordingly, the odds on winning the group are quite low.

Brazil to win Group G @ 1.40 / 22Bet

Brazil have plenty of dangerous attacking players. According to our top sports betting site Bet365, there are no less than six Brazilians among the top 18 players most likely to win the “Golden Boot”.

However, it is surprising at first glance, that not a single Brazilian attacker is represented in the top 5. This is because many of Brazil’s strikers score regularly and the game is not tailored to a single goalscorer, as is the case with England and Harry Kane, for example.

The upside is that you can get very good betting odds for the ➜ bet on a Brazilian top scorer at Bet365!

  • Neymar to be World Cup top scorer @ 21.00 / Bet365
  • Gabriel Jesus to be World Cup top scorer @ 34.00 / Bet365
  • Vinicius Junior to be World Cup top scorer @ 34.00 / Bet365
  • Richarlison to be the World Cup top scorer @ 41.00 / Bet365
  • Raphinha to be World Cup top scorer @ 41.00 / Bet365

Current form and results

The Brazilian national team played an excellent World Cup qualifying campaign, picking up 14 wins and three draws from 17 games. Particularly impressive was the fact that they scored 40 goals and conceded only five.

In the first half of 2022, apart from a draw in the away game against Ecuador, which is always an extraordinary situation due to the location of the stadium at 2,782 meters above sea level, the team has won five games. Paraguay (4-0), Chile (4-0), Bolivia (4-0) and South Korea (5-1) were all defeated by a four-goal margin, only the clash against Japan ended with a narrow 1:0 victory.

Brazil were clearly the superior team in their 1-0 win over Japan as well and should have scored the opening goal earlier. In almost all other games, our Overlyzer-charts show clear advantages in favor of Brazil. Tite’s team usually scores a lot of goals, so an Over-Bet is usually a good choice.

Speaking of Over/Under Betting:  Have you already seen our Over/Under tool? Our betting tool shows you even before the game starts the probabilities of how many goals will be scored in a game and if a game has an “over” or an “under” trend!

In September, the “Selecao” proved that they are getting stronger the closer the tournament gets. In the test match against Ghana, Brazil delivered an exceptional performance and Ghana was well served with the 3-0 loss!

A goal by Marquinhos and two goals by Richarlison wrapped up Brazil’s comfortable victory over Ghana before halftime

The Brazilians collected an Expected Goals value of 4.66 in this match, which means that five goals would have been easily within the realm of possibility. At the same time, they were able to defend strongly throughout and did not allow their opponent many opportunities.

This friendly showed that there is no way around Brazil at the 2022 World Cup if you want to have a say in the title. Although Ghana are one of the underdogs in the tournament, the Africans are also a World Cup starter.

The same goes for Tunisia, who also went down against Brazil. The record world champions from South America won convincingly with 5-1 and even spared the Tunisians in the second half.

Richarlison underlined his strong form and scored against Tunisia after his double against Ghana. Barcelona star Raphinha also scored a double and the other goals came from the experienced Neymar and Pedro. Tunisia received a red card and had practically no chance against the overwhelming power of the Brazilians.

Fun fact: At the 1950 World Cup, when Brazil lost the final in front of almost 200,000 fanatical supporters in Rio de Janeiro, a scapegoat was quickly identified. Goalkeeper Paulo Moacyr Barbosa did not look at his best when he conceded the crucial goal in the 2-1 defeat, and even 43 years after the final, he was still resented for Alcides Ghiggia’s goal. When he wanted to attend a training session of the Brazilian national team in 1993, he was denied access because he was accused of causing bad luck.

World Cup preparation

Currently, no further test matches of the Brazilian national team are scheduled.

It is still unclear how the pending match against Argentina will be handled. The match was supposed to have taken place as part of the World Cup qualifiers, but was canceled because it no longer had any effect on the outcome of the standings.

It was suggested that the match should be played as a friendly, but in the end a date was never set. However, we still have hopes that this traditional duel will be rescheduled, because Brazil vs. Argentina would not only be an exciting test for the 2022 World Cup, but it would also be one of the most prestigious duels in the world of soccer.

We update this page continuously and inform you immediately as soon as new dates for friendly matches are confirmed.

Brazil World Cup 2022 squad

There’ s a reason why Brazil are the favorites at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Whether on the attack or defense, the team has no weaknesses at any position and is stocked with outstanding players.

Brazil goalkeepers

Even at the goalkeeping position, Brazil are nowadays extremely well-staffed and have equally good candidates at its disposal. The two Premier League goalkeepers Alisson and Ederson are regulars at their top clubs Liverpool and Manchester City for a reason, and it’s ultimately just a question of taste as to which of the two is preferred. Alisson, however, is likely to have the edge in the battle for a place in the starting lineup.

GK – Alisson (Liverpool FC)
GK – Ederson (Manchester City)
GK – Weverton (Palmeiras)

Brazil center backs

Brazil have outstanding centre-backs. Marquinhos and Thiago Silva proved in the World Cup qualifiers once more that they are absolutely reliable defenders. Their experience is priceless and Marquinhos in particular is also an extremely skilled player in the build-up to the game.

Éder Militão is the first alternative in the center of defense, and he would probably have a starting spot with almost any other team in this tournament. Bremer was picked over Arsenal centre back Gabriel Magalhaes.

CB – Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain)
CB – Thiago Silva (Chelsea FC)
CB – Éder Militão (Real Madrid)
CB – Bremer (Juventus)

Brazil full backs

The situation is somewhat different when it comes to the full-backs. Danilo and Alex Sandro, two players who are signed by Juventus, have been the most recent regular starters. Both of them are not as strong as in their prime and could have problems against very fast opponents. Coach Tite has a number of alternatives in the squad, but currently the two Juventus wing-backs have the best shot at a place in the starting lineup.

RB – Danilo (Juventus)
RB – Dani Alves (UNAM Pumas)

LB– Alex Sandro (Juventus)
LB – Alex Telles (FC Sevilla)

Brazil central midfield

The new Manchester United signing Casemiro wins numerous duels in midfield and is one of the leaders in the team.

Fred, Fabinho and the more attack-minded Lucas Paqueta also have good chances of starting in central midfield. The latter has been touted as the new Kaka, but struggled in Serie A after his transfer to Milan and only recovered after his move to Olympique Lyon. Paqueta can play at any position in central midfield and is extremely versatile. He has also played as a left midfielder for the Brazilian national team.

In addition to Paqueta, Neymar is also always a great choice in the attacking midfield, should he not be used up front as expected.

CM – Casemiro (Real Madrid)
CM – Fabinho (Liverpool FC)
CM – Bruno Guimarães (Olympique Lyon)
CM – Fred (Manchester United)

CAM – Lucas Paqueta (Olympique Lyon)
CAM – Éverton Ribeiro (Flamengo)

Brazil attack

The Brazilian attack features only absolute elite players, whether in the center of attack or on the wings. Neymar often plays as a centre-forward, but he can of course also play as a left winger or as an attacking midfielder. Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus are the other main alternatives in the striker position.

On the left wing, the talented Vinicius Junior is a real threat, as he has made great progress in the last two years and is now one of the world’s top players. The lightning-fast winger scored the only goal in the latest Champions League final, lifting the most important trophy in club soccer for Real. Raphinha is an excellent option on the opposite wing, although there are also outstanding alternatives here in Antony and Rodrygo. If you were allowed to award more than 10 points to a team section, the Brazilian attack would have thoroughly deserved it.

RW – Raphinha (FC Barcelona)
RW – Rodrygo (Real Madrid)
RW – Antony (Ajax Amsterdam)

LW – Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid)
LW – Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal FC)

ST – Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain)
ST – Richarlison (Tottenham Hotspur FC)
ST – Pedro (Flamengo)
ST – Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal FC)

Brazil competition flair

Brazil have won more World Cups than any other team, proving many times in the past that the team can deliver at crucial moments. Most football fans, when asked to think of the soccer nation with the greatest success, will probably choose Brazil.

However, the image of the Brazilian team suffered after the disgraceful 7-1 defeat in the semifinals of the 2014 home World Cup against Germany. This was a huge shock for the entire nation, from which the country will not recover so quickly – a World Cup title would certainly help to overcome this disgrace. However, the 7-1 defeat also took away the impression of being unbeatable, which is why we currently can’t award the full number of points.

Brazil World Cup history

Brazil are the world’s most successful nation in soccer World Cups and have already claimed five titles! However, the passionate fans had to wait until 1958 for the first triumph, because at the home World Cup in 1950, the decisive encounter against Uruguay was lost 2-1 in front of nearly 200,000 spectators.

Fun fact: Brazil was the first non-European team to win a World Cup in Europe in 1958. In the final, they won against the host country, Sweden, with a score of 5-2.

In 1962, the Seleção managed to defend their title. In Chile, they met Czechoslovakia in the final and won 3:1. At the following World Cup in England, they were eliminated at group stage, which until today only happened at the tournaments in 1930 and 1966. Since they triumphed again in Mexico in 1970, they won the World Cup three times between 1958 and 1970!

After 1970, fans of Brazil’s national team had to wait a long time for any success. It wasn’t until the 1994 World Cup in the USA that they claimed their fourth title, beating Italy on penalties. This was followed by a runner-up finish at the 1998 World Cup in France and the last World Cup title to date at the 2002 finals in South Korea/Japan, where they beat Germany 2-0 in the final.

The last World Cup victory happened exactly 20 years ago. Three times they were eliminated in the quarterfinals – against France (2006), the Netherlands (2010) and Belgium (2018). In between, at the 2014 World Cup, they lost 7-1 to Germany in the semifinals.

Reactions to Brazil’s shocking 7-1 defeat to Germany at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
