Brazil World Cup 2022 Preview

Brazil showed a very solid team performance in their first group match against Serbia and deserved to win 2-0. It was clear that Brazil’s attack is one of the most accomplished of the tournament, but it was also impressive that the five-time world champions did not allow Serbia a single shot on goal.

The match-winner was Tottenham striker Richarlison, who scored both goals for his side. But there were also other architects of the Brazilians’ first win, such as Manchester United central midfielder Casemiro, who delivered a very mature and confident performance. In addition, Real star Vinicius junior also proved once again that he can shine at the highest level.

In the final stages, the victory for the Brazilians could have been even clearer…

One of the players who was a little off was, of all people, superstar Neymar, who was hardly involved in the Brazilians’ game. The PSG star played in a provocative manner, as he so often does, and was repeatedly attacked hard by the Serbians, which, to make matters worse, led to an injury to the star player in the closing stages. The 30-year-old had to be substituted with an ankle injury and was immediately treated with ice. It is still unclear whether he will be out for a longer period of time, but it is quite possible that team boss Tite will spare his star for the rest of the group phase.

Brazil could compensate for Neymar’s absence anyway, especially as the squad depth is impressive. But even if Neymar did not perform at his best in the first game, his absence would certainly not be a disadvantage for the Swiss.

Switzerland World Cup 2022 Preview

The Swiss put in a rather mediocre performance in their first group match against Cameroon, but were able to prevail 1-0 in the end thanks to a serious positional error on the part of their opponents. Breel Embolo proved once again that he can make a real difference for the Swiss.

However, team boss Murat Yakin could not be satisfied with his team’s overall performance and even though Cameroon had few clear scoring opportunities, they could have started the tournament without a win. Switzerland will now adopt a much more defensive approach against Brazil, but after Serbia also failed to create any clear scoring opportunities against Brazil, it will be extremely difficult for the Swiss.

Switzerland celebrated a fortunate victory against Cameroon on the first matchday…

On a positive note, however, goalkeeper Yann Sommer was once again in his typical strong tournament form. It is quite conceivable that the Swiss keeper can drive the Brazilians to despair. The performances of defenders Nico Elvedi and Silvan Widmer were also positive – but there will be more work for the Swiss defensive unit against Brazil.

Switzerland’s goal against Brazil is obvious: not to concede a goal for as long as possible in order to make the Brazilians a little nervous. With the victory against Cameroon behind them, the Swiss already have a little less pressure.

Team comparison Brazil vs. Switzerland

In favor of Brazil:

+ Possibly one of, if not the best team in the tournament.
+ Incredible attacking dynamic, creating numerous scoring opportunities even against deep-lying teams
+ Centre-forward Richarlison is already in good form, scoring twice against Serbia
+ Casemiro has been an extremely thoughtful midfield organiser of late
+ Strong, experienced centre backs who allowed virtually nothing against Serbia
+ Possibly the most difficult group match against Serbia has already been successfully played

In favor of Switzerland:

+ Can take a wait-and-see approach against the high favorites
+ Neymar could miss out on Brazil’s side due to injury
+ Yann Sommer is known for going above and beyond in big games

The last duel

Brazil has met Switzerland a total of nine times and only won three matches. This will be the third time the two teams have met at a World Cup, having played each other in 1950 and at the last tournament in Russia in 2018.

In 2018, the Swiss celebrated a respectable achievement by holding the Brazilians to a 1-1 draw. Philippe Coutinho gave the Brazilians the lead, but a header from Steven Zuber set up the final score.

Brazil – Switzerland Over Under Prediction

The Brazilian team proved against Serbia that they are already in good shape and can utilise their attacking strengths well. Although “only” two goals were scored against Serbia, the win could have resulted in a higher score and according to the expected goals statistics, Brazil even underperformed.

It is to be expected that Brazil will also manage to create numerous scoring opportunities against Switzerland. The possible absence of Neymar could even be an advantage for the Brazilians in this match, because the attacking play could become less spectacular but also more straightforward.

We therefore bet on many goals in this match and opt for an “Over 2.5” bet, i.e. at least three goals scored in the match.

Brazil – Switzerland Prediction

Of course, the greatest Swiss hopes in this match rest on goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who will have to go above and beyond against the heavy favorites. He has already proved in the past that he is capable of doing so, but it is still likely that the pressure of the Brazilians will become too much at some point.

So there is not much to suggest that the Swiss will win a point and we are definitely betting on the Brazilians to win the second game of their group.

Brazil – Switzerland Correct Score Bet

As they did against Serbia, Brazil will create plenty of scoring opportunities against Switzerland and try to set up centre-forward Richarlison well. When Brazil play, however, one must pay attention to almost all players, because in this team everyone can score a goal.

Sooner or later, the South Americans’ attacking machine will get rolling and give the Swiss a good run for their money. Our Brazil Switzerland result bet is therefore a clear 3-0 for the favorites, who could even secure a place in the last 16.
