The Netherlands struggled in their second group match and drew 1-1 with a strong team from Ecuador. Cody Gakpo scored his second goal of the tournament and the Dutch were caught off guard by Ecuador’s high level of quality. Qatar, meanwhile, lost 3-1 to Senegal and have already been eliminated.

Netherlands World Cup 2022 Preview
The Dutch hold four points after two games and need only a draw against Qatar to qualify for the last 16. Even with a defeat, the team could advance. However, the aim is clearly to beat one of the weakest teams in the World Cup so far.
However, an improvement compared to the game against Ecuador will be necessary, because Louis van Gaal’s team was not at all convincing against the South Americans. The 1-1 draw means that the “Bondscoach” will not make any changes, but will let his best team play – also so that they can gain some self-confidence for the knockout phase.
This is especially the case for some of the Dutch attacking players. Davy Klaassen or Steven Bergwijn, for example, were far from their best.
However, the 1-1 draw against Ecuador may also have been an important slap in the face at the right time, as Van Gaal will certainly have a lot to talk about with his team after their poor performance. The expected goals value of 0.04 is a disaster for a country that is otherwise so strong on the attack. The fact that the weak Qataris, of all teams, are the last group opponents is a huge advantage for the Dutch.

Qatar World Cup 2022 Preview
After two defeats in two games along with a goal difference of 1-5, hosts Qatar have already been eliminated after only two games. Not much was expected of the Qataris in the run-up to the tournament, but their performances so far have clearly been a disappointment.
They were beaten 3-1 by Senegal, but at least the World Cup hosts had a good phase in the second half, when they scored their first goal of the tournament. It was only for a few minutes that they managed to upset Senegal, but unlike after the opening match against Ecuador, Qatar were able to leave the pitch with their heads held high after the defeat to Senegal.
Two things will be important for Qatar against the Dutch: On the one hand, it is important to strengthen the defense and not let “Oranje” get into the penalty area too often. On the other hand, Felix Sanchez Bas’s team must have fun and enjoy the moment. Elimination after the group stage is already a certainty and the team has nothing to lose, which might even make the underdogs feel a little light-hearted.

The last duel
The Netherlands and Qatar will meet for the very first time at the 2022 World Cup.
Netherlands – Qatar Over Under Prediction
The Dutch have struggled to score goals recently. Against Senegal, the game was decided very late, and against Ecuador they achieved a disastrous Expected Goals Value of 0.04. It is likely that the Netherlands will therefore attack for all it’s worth against Qatar in order to gain plenty of self-confidence for the round of 16.
Since Qatar is much weaker in terms of quality than all the other teams in Group A, it can be assumed that Louis van Gaal’s team will get their opportunities. Therefore, for the first time in a match with Dutch participation, we expect an “Over 2.5”, i.e. at least three goals scored in the match.

Netherlands – Qatar Prediction
The circumstances before this last duel in Group A are very simple. The Dutch are not through the group stage yet and must earn points against Qatar to secure promotion. Van Gaal will therefore field his best team and play to win against Qatar.
The difference in quality, but also the fact that there is still something at stake for the Netherlands, while Qatar have already been eliminated, suggest that the favorite will prevail here.
Since the odds on the Netherlands to win are very low, a bet on a handicap victory by the favorite also makes sense here. We are therefore betting on the Netherlands to win by at least two goals.

Netherlands – Qatar Correct Score Bet
On the one hand, we expect the Dutch to create more scoring opportunities than in recent matches, but on the other hand, we also expect Qatar to be unable to break down the strong Dutch defensive line. It is quite conceivable that Qatar will not even create any serious scoring opportunities against Van Dijk and Co.
The Dutch could be in for a game of patience, especially as they are a little unsettled, but the first goal will come at some point and that will break the deadlock. We therefore expect a clear success for the leaders of Group A and opt for a 3-0 win by the Netherlands.
